The debt spreadsheet works anywhere. Here's how to export, sync, and use it in Google Sheets or Excel Desktop — step by step.
For Google Sheets
- Download the file: The file comes in .xlsx format. Save to your computer.
- Go to Google Drive: Go to drive.google.com and click "New" → "File Upload."
- Open in Sheets: Right-click the file → "Open with" → "Google Sheets."
- Features: Formulas, graphs and formatting remain the same. Edit normally.
- Sync on your phone: Install the Google Sheets app to update on the go.
For Excel Desktop
- Open directly: The .xlsx file opens in Excel 2013 or higher without problems.
- Activate macros: If there are automation buttons, click "Activate content".
- Save locally: We recommend saving to OneDrive for automatic backup.
Usage Tips
- Backup: Make a monthly copy with the name "Spreadsheet_MM_YYYY".
- Share with spouse: In Google Sheets, click "Share" and add your email.
- Offline access: In the Google Sheets app, turn on "Available offline" in the file settings.
💡 Pro tip: Use the Google Sheets app to record expenses as they happen. Then, at night, transcribe it to the main spreadsheet.
